Dear 2020 graduates and parents:

Vancouver Flex Academy will conduct a drive-thru graduation ceremony on Thursday, August 13 at 2 p.m. at Columbia River High School. We will follow all health and safety protocols that are required by the State of Washington.

At Columbia River, a beautiful stage will be set up for our drive-up ceremony.

  • Only one vehicle per graduate should drive up to the stage.
  • Only graduates may exit their vehicles.
  • Graduates will walk across the stage, receive a token of the ceremony along with their diplomas, and re-enter their vehicles.
  • Graduate names will be announced along with brief comments about the students plans for the future.
  • Masks must be worn at all times by anyone outside of their vehicle, and everyone should observe proper distancing.
  • The graduation event will be live-streamed on YouTube or Facebook.

    • If there is a desire to take pictures of your graduate, you may do so after exiting the stage area with your car. Please do not get out of your car to take pictures.
  • Where cars should enter at CRHS?
    • Cars will enter on the East access to Columbia River High School parking lot. Cars will be directed into the parking lot and the serpentine line to the stage. Before getting to the stage each car will stop at a check in booth to assess that all participants in cars are prepared, and appropriate, for participation. If there is any concern relative to safety or appropriate behavior, a car may be directed to leave before continuing toward the stage.
  • Can people get out of their cars while waiting or after driving through (e.g., in the parking lot afterward)?
    • No. There will not be a staged area for people to get out of their cars while waiting or driving through.
  • Will restrooms be available?
    • Yes. There will be portable toilets available. Columbia River High School will not be open for bathrooms.
  • Can other people watch?
    • Only graduates in cars with family and or friends may be within the enclosed area of the ceremony.
    • The entire ceremony will be streamed for others to watch remotely.
  • Will graduates wear caps and gowns?
    • Yes!

This event will be a lot of fun, and will give us all an opportunity to bring a positive end to a very difficult school year.
